Training, Martial Arts and Work History:

  • 1990-1994 Studied Chito-Ryu Karate
  • 1993 Began studying Jeet Kune Do** Progressive Fighting Systems division
  • 1996 Received apprentice instructor certification from the president of Jeet Kune Do Progressive Fighting Systems, Paul Vunak in Mission Viejo, CA
  • 1993-1996 Attended MMA seminars with Bruce Lee’s top student, Dan Inosanto in L.A., CA
  • 1993-1998 Competed in various local martial arts tournaments (kickboxing emphasis)
  • 1996-1998 Instructed Jeet Kune Do group classes
  • 1998 Appeared in Panther Productions “Escape” women’s self defense videos 1, 2 & 3
  • 2000 Began studying Shoot Wrestling, a freestyle form of submission grappling and also emphasized Boxing in my daily training
  • 2000-2010 Gained employment at South Florida Boxing Gym instructing Boxing and Kickboxing group classes as well as personal training
  • 2001 Received Full Instructor certification in Jeet Kune Do, Progressive Fighting Systems, after being tested by Paul Vunak in San Clemente, CA
  • 2001 Competed in the Florida State North American Grapplers Association tournament and placed 2nd in state
  • 2001 Ranked 3rd in the east coast of the U.S. for Open Submission Grappling through the North American Grapplers Association
  • 2002 Began focusing on competitive MMA training with a boxing emphasis
  • 2003 Obtained personal trainers certification through the National Gym Association
  • Appeared in Alex Brenes’ Bo-xing Fitness workout videos
  • 2010 Taught Boxing, Muay Thai, and cross-fit style group classes as well as women’s self defense seminars at Streets Fitness, Arvada Colorado
  • 2011 Competed in the National Physique Committee, Colorado State, Warrior Classic in the Bikini Physique Division and placed 5th
  • Currently a senior in the Exercise Physiology Bachelor’s Degree program with a minor in Nutrition
  • Currently an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

**Jeet Kune Do is the art created by Bruce Lee. It is composed of 26 different fighting arts, including weapons training such as Escrima. The Progressive Fighting Systems division focuses on mixed martial arts training emphasizing boxing, muay thai and grappling.
